Remember the Explosion on Route 9 in 1970?

This story is about my father, Richard Barker formally of 120 North Ave, Natick Mass.

When my parents were married they lost the house they were renting to own off of Route 9 in Natick, Mass there was a furniture store they were the owners of the house that blew up.

At the time of the explosion; the company that was hired to put tress in around the house were digging a trench and ended up hitting a gas line and knew it and started running the opposite direction.

My mom Janice around 21 to 22 at the time was pregnant and very sensitive to the gas that she smelled and ended up going out the front door saw the contractor running and yelled, "hey, I smell gas"; he must have felt guilty or didn't realize that anyone was home and saw that she was pregnant and told her to "get out of the house!"

She was going to go down the basement to get our family cat and realized that there isn't enough time; she grabbed me wrapped me up in a blanket and ran and ended up jumping over the huge trench and almost fell backwards...

just as she made it; the house blew from the basement about 30 feet in the air and the only thing that stood up to the explosion were the front door and the mail box.

The reason I am writing this is because no one seemed to have any answers for me while I was growing up as to why the attorney for my parents took off with the settlement money and no one did nothing about it? That is inexcusable!

I found the attorney down in Palm Beach Florida; unfortunately his wife answered the phone and said that he passed away. How can this have happened and no one did anything about it? I have been trying to find answers and can't seem to get anywhere.

I know that the statute of limitations has run out but I would like to know if my dad had part in this, and MAYBE hid the monies from the settlement and over time spent his share. He left my mom with kids and no where to go and he never paid child support and didn't care about us. We lived in the High Street projects and Egmont Street projects because we had no where to go.

If anyone remembers the story or has information please comment on this story. Thank you for your consideration in assisting me in any way that you can. This has been haunting me for years...

I know that one of my parents would have had to sign the settlement agreement and have to know that the attorney wasn't or shouldn't have been the one that was the payee... Please help me????

Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, rocker/songwriter Eddie Money began his early years as a cop studying at the New York Police Academy before relocating to San Francisco and becoming a popular fixture around the Bay Area rock scene. On his 1977 eponymous Columbia Records debut, fans were introduced to Money’s unmistakable emotive voice and blue-collar rock ‘n’ roll appeal, with songs such as “Baby Hold On” and “Two Tickets to Paradise” quickly rising on the charts and catapulting the hard-working musician to stardom. When MTV hit the American masses, Money ingeniously began creating humorous video narratives which in turn found huge successes for “Shakin’” and “Think I’m in Love.” Five albums later in 1986, he released the smash album Can’t Hold Back which featured two of Money’s best known classics, “Take Me Home Tonight” (feat. Exploring Computer Science (ECS)

This is an After School Program in Natick, MA that is designed for 8th - 10th graders.

Explore Computer Science through  an exploration of engaging topics, use conceptual ideas of computing, and discover why certain tools or languages might be utilized to solve particular problems.
